- Lot Description
John Sinclair (British, 19th/20th century), "The Awakening of Spring", gouache on paper, monogrammed lower left. Whimsical figural painting depicting four small fairies (one flying above in left corner, three on the ground lower right) amid larger plants and flowers. Verso with remnant of vintage label that reads "No. 3 THE AWAKENING OF SPRING John Sinclair" with illegible address--in Cheshire, England. Framed approximately 16.75" x 13.75". Sight size approximately 9.125" x 6.5".
Condition
Painting on paper. Has been cut down & laid down on artist board. Verso of artist board with foxing and remnants of old tape & adhesive. Paint color is vibrant without signs of fading, losses, or lifting. No signs of water damage, rips, or tears.
