Swiss, 20th century. Whimsical grey feathered caged bird automaton with small bird with black eyes and moving beak on a t-shaped perch adorned with leaves and flowers above gold velvet ground within a metal twisted wire circular cage with beaded and floral banding. Raised on three toupie feet. Key winding mechanism to the underside, switch at side to turn on and off movement. Marked on bottom 'REUGE MUSIC, SAINTE-CROIX, MADE IN SWTIZERLAND' . Circular hook at top for hanging. Approximate height 11", diameter of bottom 6.4".
Oxidation and light corrosion to ring and ball at top of cage. Ball with dent to form. Scattered light surface scratches commensurate with age and light handling. Light wear to fabric and feathered elements on birds and leaved stems. Automaton in working condition with all elements present. No other signs of damage, loss or repair.
