Swedish, 20th century. A large fall-front desk or secretaire a abattant painted in white with distressed finish, comprising one long upper drawer surmounting the fall-front lid, the latter opening to the black-painted distressed interior with central prospect door flanked by two rows of three small drawers surmounted by two small open shelves and one lower open storage area and flanked on each side by a row of three open shelf spaces flanked on each side by a large open storage space each with a bracket for the placement of a shelf, the fall front lid surmounting three long lower drawers, each drawer with patinated metal hardware with swan neck pulls, the sides with two large swan neck handles one on upper and one on lower section of case, case allover raised on bracket feet. Approximate height 55.5", depth 21", width 52.5", fall front lid open depth 35.75". Provenance: Property from the Private Collection of Helen Ballard, Atlanta, Georgia.
