- Lot Description
Swedish, late 19th/early 20th century. A Rococo Revival style maple burl secretary, having a carved acanthine crested pediment, having two long drawers over a fall front desk, opening to marquetry inlaid drawers flanking an open, recessed marquetry inlaid compartment, lined to either side with faux books, over three long drawers, each set with a locking shield form key escutcheon, on incurvate saber feet. Approximate height 72.5'', approximate width 42'' and approximate depth 21.75''
Condition
Wear commensurate with age and use. Some expected wear overall, including scratching, seam separation, nicks, and dents. Two large cracks to case where fall front rests - light from pressure placed on fall. Crack and seam separation to veneer of fall. Some water staining to front. Chips and losses to veneer of drawers and sides. Cracking to veneer of writing surface. Some molding/mildewing to fall interior - will likely clean. Bubbling and lifting to veneer of interior, with some seam separation overall. No other visible signs of damage or repair.
