Stieff (American (Baltimore, Maryland), founded 1904). A hand chased sterling silver water pitcher in Princess or Baltimore Rose pattern, the pitcher of urn form with spreading round foot surmounted by constricted knee and inverted pear form body issuing incurvate neck with everted wide rim to one side opposed by serpentine handle, the foot and broad portion of body with intricate high relief hand carved repousse and chased roses on stems to a stippled ground, the foot and rim shaped with alternating c-scrolls and flower blossoms, and the handle with bas relief floral patterning. Interior of foot with impressed marks "STERLING / 925/1000" over "HAND CHASED". Approximate height 10.75", spout to handle 9.5", diameter of foot 5.625". Approximate weight 36.6 troy ounces.
Overall with light surface scratches commensurate with age and use - notable scratches/abrasions to left and right side of neck, and to underside of bulbous portion of body. The constricted area of foot with some oxidation - not yet pitted. No apparent monograms or removals. No apparent pitting, cracks, or losses.
