Spode (English, founded 1767- ), circa 1815. Early 19th century three piece stone china matched group comprising of a lidded soup tureen and oblong underplate in pattern number 2117 with Chinese style ornament with red and orange flowers amid green leaves and blue tree trunks and rocky expanses, accented in gilt. Tureen with scaled lion's head handles with drop rings. Each item marked with blue Spode Stone China mark. Soup tureen approximate height (to top of gilt prunus fruit finial) 7.8", width 12.75", depth 7.75". Underplate measures approximately 12.5" x 9".
Underplate with two larger chips to bottom rim (not particulalry noticeable at top), light discoloration and wear to bottom. All elements with glazing craquelure, however, stable. Minor surface abrasions on all elements from light use. Tureen basin with wear to edges commensurate with light use. Interior of lid with repair to finial, slightly obscuring mark. Under black light examination, no other signs of damage, loss or repair.
