English, late 19th century. Sterling silver mounted spangled or aventurine cranberry glass scent vial or lay down perfume bottle of elongated flattened ovoid form. Collar on sterling silver top marked with "WSM" for maker, London, sterling and I within shield dating the item circa 1884, otherwise unmarked. Approximate length 9.5". Provenance: From the Estate of Mary L. Haugk, Lawrenceville, Georgia.
Silver knob has some tarnishing, minor pitting and surface scratches commensurate with age and usage. Top screws on and off easily with minimal wear to the glass threading. No chips, cracks or repairs to the glass noted.
