Camille Pissarro (French, 1830-1903). "Rue Eugène-Dutuit à Rouen" - 1896, lithograph on laid paper, limited edition 4/15, pencil inscribed lower left margin "Ep d'etat no 4", pencil titled lower center margin "rue Eugène Dutuit archéologue à Rouen en 1896", pencil signed lower right margin. Scarce lifetime impression by an acknowledged French master artist depicting two figures walking on a street in Rouen, France with many tall homes and structures to background and billowy clouds in sky above. Framed approximately 19.875" x 16.75". Sight size approximately 11" x 8". Provenance: From the Private Collection of Benno & Babette Rothschild, Columbus, Georgia. Reference: Delteil 175. Note: this work exists in only one state with 15 prints being created, the last 6 of which were made after the artist's death and were therefore unsigned.
Examined out of the frame. Sheet appears not to be cut down, approximately 14.125" x 10.625". Secured to back mat board with two pieces of hinging tape along top edge. Overall with toning and foxing to recto and verso. Mat burn to recto. Small tear to right edge of sheet above center in margin, approximately 6-7mm. Page loss at lower left sheet corner, approximately 5mm. Line of discoloration along right sheet edge, at widest approximately 3mm. Linear staining (possibly foxing) beyond mat edge at left above center, approximately 1" long.
