Manner of Sevres (French, founded 1738). A gilt bronze mounted porcelain banquet oil lamp with frosted glass globe shade with etched and gilt starbusts, the round bronze lamp base with acanthus leaf tip band surmounted by porcelain foot, bronze collar, and vasiform porcelain body hand painted with three large cartouches each depicting a finely dressed maiden in a landscape and bordered with gilt floral sprays and foliates, the vasiform further surmounted by a removable oil reservoir with Plume & Atwood Duplex Burner & Font and ornamented to exterior with porcelain bell form decorated with a band of colorful flowers. Marked to the underside of oil reservoir in red "FRANCE" along with double Louis in blue underglaze centered with a letter, indistinguishable. Overall approximate height 28.5", diameter 8.5".
Overall very good condition. There is no glass chimney. Oil reservoir is intact with no chips, cracks or damage. The underside is marked with double Louis in blue underglaze and stamped FRANCE in red. Lamp has not been tested to see if the burner works. There is oxidation to the font and burner. Minor wear to the glass globe in form of scratches and some loss of surface decor. No chips or cracks to the globe. Neck and mouth appear to be ground down. There are small minor firing holes to the porcelain - probably a glaze bubble or glaze pop. All wear is commensurate with age and usage.
