French, 19th century. Sevres ormolu mounted cobalt ground porcelain table lamp, probably converted from a potpourri vase with cover (vases dulac), the dome shaped “lid” above a pierced Vitruvian-scroll frieze and ribbon tied reeded band over a berried laurel band with dual ram’s mask handles suspending garland swag and uniting a ribbon tied classical portrait to each side, possibly depicting King Louis XVIII and the duchesse de Berri, on a turned socle base with gilt band mounted with French trophy to each side and raised on a circular giltwood base. Approximate height without harp or finial 17", total height32.5". width 9"(handle to handle), diameter of base 7". Provenance: From the Estate of Henry G. Muecke Jr., Atlanta, Georgia.
Light oxidation to ormolu mounts commensurate with age and light handling. Two small divets or dimples on exterior of vase likely imperfections in production as they do not appear to be damage--even application of glaze without any raising or fluorescence under black light. Later converted into electrified lamp. Light craquelure to glaze commensurate with age--no signs of flaking. No other signs of damage, loss or repair.
