English, late 19th century. A matched set of eight Chippendale style mahogany dining chairs comprising two arm and six side, each chair with swept top rail centered with carved oak leaves and acorns with rocaille scrolls and having voluted ears and foliate carved stiles, the pierced and ornately carved splat entwined with foliage over the trapezoidal drop in padded seat within a border carved with leaf tips and raised on cabriole legs embellished with oak leaves and acorns and terminating on ball and claw feet. The arm chairs mounted to the underside of seat rail with brass plaque 'Paramount Antiques, Inc., 58 East 11th Street, New York, Ny 10003, Tel 212-777-9131. Approximate height of arm chairs 39.75", width 26.25" (arm to arm), seat depth 16.5", seat height 17.5". Approximate height of side chairs 38.75", width 21.5", seat depth 16.5", seat height 17.5".
Structurally sound and overall very good condition. Refreshed finish. Some seats with staining and fading of fabric. One corner block under seatrail missing. Scattered minor chips, scuffs and scratches commensurate with age and usage.
