Continental, early 19th century/Early 20th century. Set of six Louis XV style stained walnut framed side chairs, three which are early 19th century and three later, all with coral colored velvet fabric upholstery, the shaped crest with central carved Rococo shell, the back and seat upholstered in coral velvet, the reverse of the back decorated with nailhead trim, the shaped apron with central carved acanthus leaf, the apron sides decorated with carved fleur-de-lis motifs, all raised on cabriole legs with scroll feet. Approximate height 40.75", width 19", depth 17.25", seat to floor 17.5". Provenance: From the Estate of Sam & Florence Inman, Atlanta, Georgia.
The three older chairs show evidence of prior worm wood. Seat blocks have been added. There are scattered patches with repairs to the backs. Putty/wood fill repair to one chair underside front and back leg.
