French, 20th century. Set of four matching Louis XVI style carved walnut wood framed and caned chairs with rocaille decoration on top crest on shaped back flanked by scrolling and acanthus leaves, brown caning on shaped back above caned shaped seat raised on cabriole legs with leaf decorated knees, carved apron with additional shell and scrolled foliate motif, legs joined by an incurvate X form stretcher with rosette at center. Unmarked. Overall approximate height 38.75", width 19.75", depth 20", seat to floor 17.25".
Early 20th century. All four chairs are structurally sound. Shows normal wear to the finish and miscellaneous nicks, dings, and scratches due to age and use. One chair with what looks like chew marks to the stretcher. Minor separations at stretcher seams. Minor worming. Caning is tight to back and seat.
