Likely French, late 19th/ early 20th century. A set of three mahogany nesting tables of Asian inspired chinoiserie design, each with mother of pearl, silver gilt and bone marquetry inlaid tops, scalloped sides, and pierced legs decorated with Asian inspired fretwork, joined by a shaped stretcher and resting on lion head bases with stylized paw feet. Highest table top decorated with Asian inspired marquetry scene of a tree branch with mother of pearl blossoms in the foreground, five bone inlaid birds, a pair of fisherman with bone inlaid skin fishing on a pier, and a frog resting on a piece stylized driftwood, middle table top decorated with scene of a shirtless fisherman with bone inlaid skin perched on a bamboo water system hoisting a silver gilt inlaid fish at the end of his line over a pool of water, a bamboo tree with three leafy limbs to the right of the over a light and darkwood shaded dragonfly, lowest table top decorated with a scene of two frogs on a rocky path holding lanterns on sticks, lanterns decorated with mother of pearl inlaid flowers, a single stylized cloud in the sky above, a bamboo shoot to the right of the scene with a vine on which a bird is perched. Middle and lowest table can fully fit beneath tallest table.
