- Lot Description
Sean Scully (Irish/ American, b. 1945). "Block" - 1986, woodcut in colors, artist's proof edition 3/10, pencil signed and dated lower left margin, pencil titled lower center margin, pencil numbered lower right margin. Abstract art woodblock print in blues depicting three arranged blocks of form, the largest at left and smallest at bottom right with faux bois or woodgrain texture and flanking a dark blue block at top right bearing streaks of orange. Framed approximately 40.25" x 47.25". Sheet size approximately 36" x 42.5". Image size approximately 30" x 35". Provenance: From the Private Collection of Benno & Babette Rothschild, Columbus, Georgia.
Condition
Not examined out of the frame in order to preserve condition, but sheet mounted floating within the frame therefore entire sheet recto is visible. Even overall toning to sheet. Some rippling overall and impressed edges due to general handing. Minor scattered discolorations due to general handling. No apparent rips, abrasions, losses, or pin holes.
