Bulgari (Italian, founded 1844). An unusual and scarce sterling silver beer stein or tankard in the form of a fluted column shaft, each flute bearing the inscribed name of one of the 13 original American colonies: Virginia, Massachusetts, New York, Maryland, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Delaware, North Carolina, South Carolina, New Jersey, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, and Georgia, each vertical inscription topped by a gold tone 5-point star, the mug with c form handle to one side with pointed corners echoing the star motif. Marked to underside "UV" within an ovular cartouche (possibly for Ubaldo Vitali (American, b.1944), master silversmith associated with such names as Bvlgari, Tiffany, Cartier, Steuben and Movado in the 1970s), "BVLGARI" and "STERLING". Approximate height 5.375", handle to rim 4.625". Total approximate weight 16.4 troy ounces. Provenance: From the Estate of Mary L. Haugk, Lawrenceville, Georgia.
Some residue or oxidation build-up to top of flutes below everted rim as well as around stars continuing down column form. Minor pitting evident to handle as well as further oxidation. One small dot of pitting to top of rim over "Georgia" column, and some minor pitting to bottom edge of form overall. Minor scratches to underside.
