English, last quarter of 19th century, circa1875. A cast iron etagere in the Renaissance Revival style allover painted beige, the crest with central classical female mask and pierced openwork foliate scrolls flanked by two side columns terminating in opposing gryphon busts with leaf lower bodies and projecting hooks, with two upper bars for hanging items, central rectangular mirror with astragal molded frame, and black marble table surface surmounting the leaf gadrooned molding over one frieze drawer with gadrooned circular pull and foliate decoration, flanked by two bearded satyr masks terminating in front legs joined by a gadrooned rail to secure umbrellas and canes, the pierced back board decorated with elaborate foliate carving and surmounted by urn and point finials, on plinth base with lift off quarter round lids with gadrooned pulls for placement of umbrellas. The English kitemark on back reveals the piece is metal and was made in March of 1875. Approximate height 87", width 41", depth 15".
