Continental, late 19th century. A Renaissance Revival style buffet in two parts, the upper portion having a molded overhanging cornice, with a carved gadrooned frieze mounted with three dog's heads, each with a gilt metal ring in its mount, resting on two fluted pilaster supports, with two cabinet doors, each inset with an high relief gilt metal plaque, the whole resting on two carved column supports, with a high relief gilt metal back splash depicting a figural scene, the lower portion with a carved overhanging molded cornice, with a carved gadrooned frieze mounted with lion's head with rings in their mouths, with two short drawers over two cabinet doors, each inset with a gilt metal high relief panel, flanked by two fluted pilasters, on a molded pediment base. Approximate height 81.5", width 42.25", depth 24".
Wear commensurate with age and use. Some surface wear to top, with several water or heat rings. Some minor worming overall, and some surface scratching. Molding t base on right side has been broken and repaired, with loss. Some minor accretions. No other visible signs of damage or repair.
