English, late 18th century. Queen Anne burled walnut and walnut wood secretary (lined in tiger oak) with double domed molded cornice above two hinged doors with shaped mirrored panels that open to storage within; the lower section fitted with a slant front opening rectangular leather writing surface with tooled border in front of seven small drawers for storing items with fitted niches above four graduated long drawers below with engraved brasses flanking shaped escutcheons, overall raised on bracket feet. Overall approximate height 82.3", width 35.1", depth 21.75".
In overall good condition and structurally sound. Minor scattered veneer patches and repairs. A few scattered veneer chips. The finish appears to be an old refinish. The mirrors appear to be original with some silver loss. The brasses, escutcheons and locking mechanisms do not appear to be original and some are missing screws. There are missing pulls to both lopers. The brass catch needs to be re-attached to bottom of door to keep door shut. There is shrinkage in drawers and cracks on both sides of the case, commensurate with age and usage.
