- Lot Description
Hispania Company (Spanish, 1941-1980s), 20th century. A polychrome and gold painted porcelain figural group allegorical of "Winter" modeled as two seated cherub or putti warming themselves around a fire. Marked to the underside with early Ceramica Hispania in underglaze blue and impressed "R 27". Approximate height 6.62", width 6.12", depth 4.62". Note: The Hispania company was founded in 1941 and was most noted for its production of earthenware and majolica, primarily decorative items such as vases, frames, planters, etc. The budding Lladró brothers were associated with the company from the inception and ended up buying the company.
Condition
Both figures have paint touch up on heads indicating repair. Putto with blue cloak has a repair to hand. Putto with lilac clock with repair to foot. None of the repairs are distracting and detected via black light.
