- Lot Description
Philip Standish Read (American (New York),1927-2000). "Business As Usual", oil on canvas, signed lower right "P. S. Read". Horizontal formatted painting depicting eight business men in silhouette engaged in conversation with each other, the painting with narrow vertical lining throughout as well as mosaic-like patterning to figures giving the scene a modern, almost abstract appearance, which is enhanced by the ombre or dip-dyed effect to background with orange at top shifting to yellow and grey behind the figures then to purple and back to orange at bottom of the mid century modern scene. Framed approximately 28.5" x 72.25", unframed approximately 25.875" x 69.125".
