Likely French or Italian, 19th century. A petite window bench in the Louis XVI style, the chocolate velvet upholstered cushion surmounting the distressed partial gilt and brown-painted wooden base comprising a frieze with carved classical triglyphs and metopes, raised on four turned legs with gadrooned ball turnings over fluted tapering legs, joined by an H-form stretcher. Approximate height 19.5", width 24.5", depth 15.5". Provenance: Property from the Private Collection of Helen Ballard, Atlanta, Georgia.
Bench structurally slightly loose and could benefit from tightening of joints. Velvet seat in good condition. Frame has distressed painted finish.
