Paul Jacoulet (French, 1896-1960), "Le Betel Yap"-1940, color woodblock print on paper laid down, pencil signed at right center above red seal with clipper ship. Figural work on paper depicting a squatting young nude man with red, black and pink wrap around hips, grass accent on biceps, red beaded necklace strand, peach flowers in short dark hair, holding bamboo rod and looking at leaves in shallow blue water. Framed approximately 21.25' x 17.25". Unframed sheet size approximately 15.5" x 12".
Piece has been cut and laid down on thin board, adhesive lifting and board separating in lower left corner. Discoloration in lower quadrants, predominantly lower left with darkened liquid splatter consistent with light spray. Light toning to sheet. Colors rich and vibrant with light signs of fading. No other apparent holes, rips, tears or damage.
