Paul Emile Lecomte (French/ American, 1877-1950). A pair of landscapes of the French countryside, oil on canvas, both signed lower right "Paul Emile Lecomte". A pair of landscape paintings comprising of one depicting a pair of figures, perhaps a mother and child, walking down a long dirt pathway away from a white country house and a more distant ochre colored home, with sparse trees in the foreground and a round structure in the background, the painting presented in muted pastel tones; and a second painting depicting a calm river running through the middle of the canvas flanked by multicolored homes on the left bank, spare trees on the right bank, and a white country house in the background with a barn and cows beside it, the painting being in pastel tones. Both paintings marked to verso of canvas with ovular stamp "Toiles & Couleurs" above other indistinguishable text including "Paris", likely a gallery or retailer stamp. Framed 17 1/8" x 19 7/8", unframed 13 1/8" x 16".
Paintings in excellent condition with little to no signs of in-painting under black light examination. Some slight discoloration to clouds, may brighten from professional cleaning. Paint layer stable with no signs of lifting. No signs of rips, tears or holes.
