20th century Aubusson style hand woven wool floral tapestry or rug, palatial in size, with centralized leafy shaped medallion in cream with four oval medallions containing French trophies flanked by diaper panels and cabbage roses and flowers in creams, mauves, greens and light pink, further centering a circular floral and pink radiating flambeau medallion, the brown field decorated with leafy oval medallions containing French trophies representing the arts, punctuated by floral garlands, the corner spandrels with floral filled husk bouquets, green and pink scrolling acanthus issuing grape leaves and grape clusters. The border in cream with continuous leafy floral garlands in maroon, white, cream, yellow, pink and greens. Approximate height 12’, width 18’.
Minimal loose threads. Minor staining. No noticeable holes, tears, or repairs.
