Von Schierholz Porcelain Factory (German, founded 1815), circa first quarter 20th century. A pair of double cherub porcelain five light two piece candelabras, the candle sticks with mirrored decoration depicting two sculptural nude cherubs flanking a central tree trunk surmounting a c-scroll footed base, the trunk above the figures issuing a foliate form flaring spray surmounted by a central upright candle cup on leaf tip bobeche and four serpentine arms terminating in leaf tip bobeches and narrow candle cups, the whole with hand painted and applied flowers of varying color and size. Underside of one base stamped in green "MADE IN GERMANY" and "von SCHIERHOLZ/ Handmalerei", the second base with maker's mark only. Each overall approximate height 22.25", width across arms 14.5".
Both with dirt and grime throughout, may benefit from light professional cleaning. Both with residual epoxy or adhesive at joint where candelabra separates from stand. (1) Candelabra I: Wax cups with losses to gilt details commensurate with handling. Florals on arms and base with scattered, untreated losses to petals, visible. Underside foot with wear commensurate with shelf use. Under black light examination no apparent repairs. (2) Candelabra II: Wax cups with losses to gilt details commensurate with handling. Florals on arms and base with scattered, untreated losses to petals, visible but less pronounced than Candelabra I. Underside foot with wear commensurate with shelf use. Under black light examination no apparent repairs.
