French, 20th century. A matched pair of Versailles green painted iron or steel and wood planters or boxes, traditionally used to house citrus plants, having a square form surmounted with four iron or steel ball finials over outset rings with wood panel sides raised on four elevated stepped and block form fluted legs. Both planters mounted with metal plaque to lower side 'Ets C. Gaignon Modele Depose Herblay France' also mounted to upper side with oval metal plaque 'Gaignon Modele Depose Paris'. Approximate height 29.25" (including ball finial), width 23.75" (foot to foot), interior width 20.12".
Structurally sound and overall good condition. There are scattered areas of rust/corrosion with paint loss not distracting. Minor chips to wood.
