Spanish, 18th Century. Pair of Spanish Baroque walnut, studded and leather upholstered open armchairs, the leather fringed back stamped with a design and embossed armorial flanked by volute foliate scrolled stiles over brown leather and fringe seat, the back and seat with sizeable nail heads, on a shoe foot type base with incised detail. Height 56.75", width 25" (arm to arm), seat depth 15", seat height 20".
Structurally sound. Slight warping to frame. Traces of glue residue to scrolled stiles which may not be original to the piece. There is a 1.75" gouge in arm with missing wood. Leather seats are tight to frame. Leather is cracking. Fringe can be combed out.
