- Lot Description
Continental, 20th century. A mated pair of papier mâché handled urns with wood bases, each of baluster form, with simulated marble with swirling striations to body, each flanked by two s-scroll handles with rosettes and swept acanthus accents, each with turned wood socle, one with label to underside "380", one with label to underside "381", one with label to underside "Hastings House $1200 Pair 19th C. Italian Papier Mache". Overall approximately 19.5" x 17" x 9".
Condition
Both with scattered craquelure; predominantly noticeable to base of urn. One with adhesive treatment to craquelure at base of urn. Both with scattered abrasions to paint surface throughout. Both with scattered fractures to handles. One with repair to lower base of handle; adhesive distinguishable under black light.
