American, 20th century. Pair of Sheraton style black lacquer and parcel gilt decorated open armchairs with floral garland painted tablet back over a pierced paint splat and caned seat and removable cushion, raised on turned tapered legs, attributed to Baker Furniture Company. Height 34.75, width 22"(arm to arm), seat depth 19", seat height 17".
Both chairs are structurally sound. Caning is tight and in good condition. Scattered nicks not distracting - commensurate with age and usage.
