Continental, 20th century. A matched pair of Napoleon III style gilt metal mounted faux marquetry inlaid side cabinets, each having a serpentine shaped ebonized and marquetry inlaid top with outset rounded corners and beaded gilt metal banding over a conforming frieze with an ebonized floral marquetry inlaid drawer and single cupboard door having central oval ebonized panel inlaid with exotic wood floral filled urn within a leafy gilt metal banding, opening to interior shelves, the sides similarly inlaid, the whole applied with gilt metal mounts, egg and dart and rocaille motif. Approximate height 33.75", width 26.5", depth 12.15".
Both cabinets are probably late 20th century. Tops with scattered chips and loss of veneered surface. Closer examination of marquetry appears to be painted and not inlaid. Veneer on sides of cases with lifting and slight warping. Loss of beaded metal banding on one cabinet. Traces of glue residue and finish to interior. Metal mounts loose, some with missing nails. Nail pops to the top of cabinets, some filled in.
