- Lot Description
French, early 19th century. Matched pair of Louis XVI style giltwood decorated side chairs, both with rectangular lappet-carved with padded and upholstered back and serpentine seat over a conforming lappet carved seat rail raised on turned tapered and fluted legs headed with patera blocks. Height 36.75", width 18.5", seat depth 17", seat height 18".
Condition
Evidence of prior wormwood damage. Both are structurally sound, although one may need tightening. Scattered nicks and chips, commensurate with age. Wear to gilt finish. Fabric is faded and ticking.
