Chinese School, 20th century. A pair of large format hand painted ancestral portraits on silk depicting an aged man and woman each seated on a wooden chair draped in brown cloth with small white flowers, the male wearing a blue robe and the female in a red robe each with phoenix and dragon decoration, each also in an ornamental headdress, their chairs set to wooden platforms surrounded by peony motif on ground and set before a golden wall. Each silk apparently mounted to paper set within a stained wood frame with brass mounting hardware to top center. Overall approximately 59.5" x 40". Painting approximately 48" x 34".
Paintings not removed from frames. Each painting with significant losses to the silk surrounds, but paintings themselves with only minor losses along edges of silk. Minor staining to painting surfaces commensurate with handling. No apparent losses, tears, or abrasions.
