Attributed to Graf Harrach (Bohemian, founded 1712), circa 1880. Pair of large scale Basalt glass and enameled table vases of flattened ovoid form with parcel gilt bordered undulating rims at top with white enameled beaded border, shape of vase recalling a flower blossom, each exterior hand painted in enamels with birds perched amid flowers and leaved trees in monochromatic blues on black glass ground. Vases body surmounting a circular foot with gilt banding. Back of each vase with continued scene of leaves and flowers. Both apparently unmarked. Approximate height 14.5", diameter of foot 6.125". Provenance: Property from the Estate of Majorie Jeanne Wiley, Evanston, Illinois whereby sold by Leslie Hindman Auctioneers, Chicago, Illinois in their July 19, 2010 auction as Lot 977 whereby acquired and sold to the Estate of Mary L. Haugk, Lawrenceville, Georgia.
Overall very good condition. Wear to gilt enamel on the mouth rim and foot rim (see image #6). Minor scratches to finish not distracting. Wear to the underside foot with minute flea bite to rim and two minor losses to ground down foot. All wear is commensurate with age and usage.
