John Van Koert (Canadian/American 1912-1998) for Drexel Furniture Company (American, North Carolina), circa 1957. A pair of John Van Koert Profile collection walnut nightstands with oak secondary wood, the overhanging walnut top terminating in coved edges surmounting one drawer lined in oak with serpentine form aluminum pulls, surmounting an open storage compartment with shelf, resting on tapered splayed legs. Drawer stamped "By Drexel Reg. Trademark". Approximate height 25.5", width 20", depth 14".
Both nightstands structurally sound. Slight dullness to finish (see image #5). Minor surface scratches, commensurate with age & usage. Minor oxidation to aluminum handles. One with slight staining to top. Other with minor scattered flecks of white paint (probably easily removable). Also evidence of possible water stains. No other signs of damage or repair.
