English, circa 1850-1875. Pair of Sheffield silver plate candelabras, Charles Hawksworth & John Eyre & Co, the detachable branch section with two swirling arms issuing from a central light with detachable beaded nozzles and similar drip-pans, the standard modeled as Corinthian capitals on spreading, beaded square bases decorated with relief Satyr or grotesque masks connected with draping swags. Marked on each base. Height 22", width 17", square base 4.6". Provenance: From the Estate of Mr. & Mrs. H.C. Carson of Atlanta, Georgia.
Most of the copper showing through plating is located to the upper half of the candelabras - particularly to the candle cups and arms (see images 3, 4 and 7). The base shows a hint of copper.
