American, circa 1950s. Pair of Grosfeld House tall back open armchairs with painted finish, scrolled back and plume carved scrolled arms, the upholstered back and seat covered in coral print fabric, raised on front turned tapered reeded legs headed with patera blocks and terminating on small ball feet. Approximate height 39", width 22" (arm to arm), seat depth 18", seat height 16".
Overall good condition. All 4 arms visibly adjoined in two separate places. One apparent repair near adjoining parts on one arm (see image #8). Other chair with apparent break on downswept scrolled arm, probably from pressure. Minor wear to surface paint & scattered losses, however, easily concealed by distressed finish. Armchairs have recently been recovered, so fabric is tight to frame with no rips, stains, or odors.
