French, Late 18th/Early 19th century. Pair of provincial hand carved and stained walnut wood sculptural wall hangings with ribboned bow at top vertically aligned dangling fruit amid leaves portraying pears, grapes, and oranges. Later back supports attached to each for stable mounting. Approximate height 22.75", width 5.6", depth 3".
Each wall hanging with visible worming--no longer active. Backs likely later applied and roughly handled to fit shape of fruit carvings. Backs joined by nails and do not appear to be glued. Light wear to patina on each from handling. Scattered losses to edges of ribbon at top, leaf tips and fruit--not particularly distracting but visible. Each work with a visible circular drill hole--likely from previous mounting. No signs of cracks or repairs.
