French, 19th century. A pair of rectangular wooden wall plaques painted in pale grey-green and distressed, each with a central grouping of gilt high relief carved fruit and vegetables, one panel with upper carved branch with well-carved leaves surmounting a top pomegranate sliced in half to reveal its interior and seeds over another twig surmounting a whole pomegranate with leaves above a bunch of grapes with carved leaf, the other panel with upper turned and carved bar tied with faux rope hanging three ears of corn comprising two half-round relief carved lower ears surmounted by a top ear carved in the round, over a diagonal branch surmounting a bunch of grapes with carved leaf. Approximate height 19.5", width 7.5". Note: paper label at verso of panel with pomegranates reads "Made in France".
