French, Late 19th/Early 20th century. Pair of fine dore bronze and Verte de Campan marble cassoulets with bronze berry cluster and acanthus leaf tip finial on attached scalloped marble domed lid on urn form body with elongated gadrooned ornament and ornate dore bronze handles with female facial mask, acanthus leaves and beading. Overall raised on a circular base with patera blocks alternating with recessed panels with ribboned olive branch swags. Unmarked. Approximate height 18.9", diameter of bottom 5.4". Note: Vert de Campan marble is quarried from the Espiadet, Campan Vallery in France. Provenance: Former catcher with the Chicago Cubs and one of Nashville's most prolific restaurateurs.
Wear to gilt surface, some oxidation to left side of one mask. Scattered and minor discoloration to marble. One cassolette with repair to foot socle, traces of glue (see image 5).
