Chinese, Late 19th/Early 20th century. Pair of nicely carved ivory figural sculptures in the form of men (one older and bearded, the other with head covered by hooded garment) holding tall branch staffs and holding handled baskets on their arm. Figures in similar tree and appear to have been carved by the same artist. both raised on pierced circular stained wood bases. Apparently unmarked. Overall (including base) height (of tallest) 15.4", diameter 3.8".
Older, bearded figure has minute chips to very top of staff. Staff has broken away from foot. Other figure has staff 'support' broken away from top of head--not particularly obvious or distracting.
