English, 19th Century. Matched pair of Carolean style oak throne or elbow chairs, the center of the crest with crown shaped flowerheads flanked by scrolled acanthus, over an upholstered back within pierced scrolling acanthus border between a pair of barley twist supports headed with rosette blocks and carved finials, above the acanthus and floral carved arms, supported by barley twist legs, joined in the front by a stretcher similarly carved as the crest and with side black and turned stretchers. Height 51", width 24", seat depth 16", seat height 18.5.
Overall excellent condition. Structurally sound; joints are firm and tight. No signs of repair or damage. Upholstery has no stains or rips and is tight to frame.
