Chinese School, 20th century. Pair of framed ancestral portraits, ink and pigment on silk, apparently unsigned. A pair of ancestral portraits comprising of one depicting a female figure seated on a raised pedestal wearing beaded headdress and ornate red silk robe decorated in a square cartouche to chest with floral motif, cloud scrolls, stylized waves, and a white bird, her robe further decorated at bottom edge with a band of chevrons; the other portrait depicting a male figure with mustache and beard seated on raised pedestal, the figure dressed in ornate blue silk robes and traditional hat, the robe decorated similarly to his female counterpart's with floral motif, cloud scrolls, stylized waves, and chevron patterning. Each figure on a solid gold toned background with pedestal resting on a shaped medallion containing a pink chrysanthemum blossom, the medallion surrounded by conforming lines of white dots on black ground, each portrait panel with a cream colored silk surround and coordinating blue border contained within a gilt frame. Each framed approximately 56.5" x 31.75". Each sight size approximately 45.25" x 20.25".
