Chinese, 20th century. A pair of large porcelain baluster ju-pi vases, each with hand painted scene depicting a male and female deer in a landscape to one side of body and neck and many lines of black and iron red calligraphy to alternate side of body and neck, the neck with two opposing downward facing fu dog handles. Unmarked. Approximate height 17.75", diameter 9".
Each with no visible fractures or losses. Each with dirt and grime throughout; may benefit from light professional cleaning. Each with light wear to painted enamels. Each with wear to bottom commensurate with shelf use, with minor scattered flakes (structurally stable).
