• Lot Description

  Chinese School, 20th century. A pair of large format hand painted gouache and gilt on silk ancestral portrait paintings depicting an aged man and woman (possibly emperor and empress) each seated on a wooden chair draped in floral cloth, the man in a blue robe, the woman in a red robe, each robe with phoenix and dragon depictions, each painting with stylized peony rug and bare gilt background. Each framed approximately 52.5" x 30". Each sight 49" x 26.5".

  Condition

  Not examined out of the frame. Minor foxing to silk border, with some toning to matrix. No apparent losses or tears.
