- Lot Description
Chamberlain's Worcester (English, 1783-1852). An exquisite pair of early 19th century 3-piece porcelain fruit coolers, each comprising an urn form base, a lid with artichoke finial, and a faux marble painted liner, the coolers' exterior finely decorated with cartouches with colorful enamel flowers alternating with molded roses, with opposing twisted rope tassel handles. Underside of each lid marked in black "Chamberlain's / Worcester / 155 / New Bond Street / London". Overall approximate height 11.25", width over handles 14".
Condition
Gilt possibly refreshed. Loss of beading around one finial. One finial also appears to have been reattached. Flea bite to interior rim and chip with loss to rim of liner. Minor scattered wear to gilt on rims. Couple of glaze pops. Crazing to interior and underside foot, one with tight hairline. Both with minor and typical shelf wear to simulated marble bases.
