19th century. An oversized sofa or settee with very tall back surmounted by a serpentine crest and tall steeply pitched curved arms over the rectangular seat, the arms, back, and seat all upholstered in conforming cream chenille upholstery in a chevron pattern of luxuriously soft texture, all raised a William and Mary style base comprising four block and baluster turned front legs all joined by two rows of ring and baluster turned stretches and four squared back legs. Approximate height 51.75", length 68.5", width 41", seat to floor 19.5". Provenance: Property from the Private Collection of Helen Ballard, Atlanta, Georgia.
Excellent condition overall. Fabric is in excellent condition with no stains and no presence of odors. Stained wooden base exhibits long scratches to far left side of front baluster. Some feet exhibit scuffing at base from wear and use. Not distracting. Back right leg has scattered wood loss with chips to wood.
