- Lot Description
Continental, 20th century. 9 piece porcelain fish set comprising of a large oblong serving platter and eight circular plates, all with scalloped overlapping shell form border with gilt rim and decorated with hand painted figural scenes depicting young beautiful mermaids in ocean amid waves. Platter depicting three mermaids underwater amid aquatic plants, rocks and fish, one holding fishing net, signed "D.E. BARR". Unmarked. Plate diameter approximately 9.2". Serving platter approximately 11.125" x 24.75".
Condition
Overall very good condition. Platter shows minor surface wear with paint loss commensurate with age and usage (see images #3, #4, #5). There is one plate with a chip to the shell form rim. No repairs noted.
