- Lot Description
English, circa 1820. Regency mother-of-pearl veneered tea caddy of sarcophagus form with hinged shaped and tapered lid that opens to reveal two mother of pearl veneered lids with floral knob pulls, mother-of-pearl key escutcheon with key on body supported on four wooden bun feet, apparently unmarked. Overall approximately 5.25" x 7.5" x 4.925".
Condition
Scattered losses to upper and lower elements of lid. Most noticeable losses to lower lid at back left corner, upper lid front left corner, underside of lower lid front left corner. Crack to lower left apron at front. Adhesive repairs to both hinges (interior and exterior); including fracture repair to exterior back side left hinge. Concave bowing to interior lids. Extensive losses to interior silvering. Wear to feet commensurate with shelf contact. Losses to paper covering underside.
