American, 19th century. A striking mahogany veneered banquet or dining table, the round top expanding to monumental length with the addition of eight extension leaves, the two demilune or semicircular ends each decorated with four triangular veneers of stunning flame mahogany veneers, the frieze with high relief carved paterae, raised on heavily pierced carved base with pierced carved scrolls, with high relief carved flowers, acanthus leave, and fruit, framed by molded panels, raised on a molded base on casters. Approximate height 30", length including all extension leaves 138", depth 60.5", diameter of top without leaves 59.5".
Table is in good condition with slight shallow indentations and surface scratches to wood at top. Slight wood loss is evident to outer molding at joints of leaves. All carved decorative elements including flowers, fruits, and scrolls fully intact without damages or losses. Table top likely refinished. At top, some original screws have been replaced with later screws.
